In that sample Gross Alpha Particle Activity was found at levels of 16 pCi/L. The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for this contaminant is 15 pCi/L. In accordance with R309-205- 7(c)(v), this result requires increased monitoring at Well C-Sawyer (WS003). The monitoring schedule has been changed, and the following samples are now due each quarter during which Well C-Sawyer (WS003) provides water to the system: Gross Alpha Particle Activity, Combined Uranium, Radium-226 and Radium-228. Quarterly monitoring will remain in place until there are four consecutive quarters of sample results that show levels are reliably and consistently below the MCL. Compliance with the Gross Alpha Particle Activity MCL will be determined by calculating the Running Annual Average (RAA) of Gross Alpha Particle Activity levels collected through quarterly sampling. If at any point the RAA is greater than 15 pCi/L, a MCL violation will be issued, and public notice will be required. Presented below are the updated monitoring requirements for this facility.
