Hello Ryan and Leigh – Leigh has been asking for updates, this Summer…
regarding when we might have secured a drilling firm for the proposed
microbial injection project at BSSteel. Repeatedly, I have been told by Direct
Push Service’s (DPS) owner, Sean Bromley, that DPS expected to get to our
project “sometime this Fall 2023”……even as recently as a few weeks ago!

However, per last week’s below email from Sean Bromley, DPS cannot get to
our BSSteel microbial injections until next March or April 2024. DPS also
stated that their costs will be more than their original April 2023 BSS bid (~
$14-15K), and they cannot predict 2024 costs, at this time.

For the past two years, Stantec and other consulting firms have witnessed
that all drillers in Utah and surrounding states have been extremely busy to
overbooked. Unfortly., there are only a few drilling firms that actually offer
injection-related, drilling services. As Leigh may be aware - one of DPS’
largest, local UT-based competitors, EarthProbe, closed shop in 2022, as the
owners retired….thus, there is a smaller pool of injection/drilling firms from
which to solicit bids/use, etc. [We used EarthProbe for the 2012 BSS
injections.]

I have been soliciting bids from other drilling firms, as well as talking with
Regenesis --- the firm that provides the microbial injection products. NOT all

drilling firms have the technical expertise or equipment for injecting
Regenesis products, successfully.

In many instances, including one of my other current UDEQ, VCP projects in
SLCity, Regenesis subcontracts drilling firms on a ‘turnkey’ basis, whereby
Regenesis provides the injection products and subcontracts the drilling firm
directly, etc. The other VCP project was also going to entail subcontracting
of DPS – however, DPS also acknowledges that DPS cannot perform that
specific project until next April, at the earliest.

Last Friday, I received a bid from Cascade Drilling for the BSS project.
Cascade can perform the project according to Regenesis’
standards/expectations. Cascade’s bid is $22,200.

Currently, Regenesis is soliciting bids from other drilling firms for both the
BSS project and my other VCP project. I asked that they solicit bids for a
drilling firm doing each project as separate projects – but also asked for bids
that might encompass cost-savings, if they performed both projects one
immediately after the other (hoping to encourage cost-savings/competitive
pricing, etc.). Regenesis expects to receive feedback from drilling firms,
sometime this week.

As soon as I receive additional bids, I will share w/Ryan. Once we have
estimates in hand, then Ryan can evaluate how BSS might want to proceed.
Then, we can apprise Leigh/UDEQ as to a plan of action.

We are currently on injection projects that will be going through December,
January, February and first part of March. We can look at getting these on our
